Our lovely 1962 Alvis TD21 Drophead has been sold. It was originally purchased by my Dad from its first owner, the local bank manager, around 1972, and so it had been cherished by the family for nearly 45 years.
I and my beautiful blonde girlfriend Jools did enjoy stylishly gliding around in it during the 1970’s when Dad let us: to weddings; cruising the King's Road etc. Mum & Dad drove it through France to Spain for several trips over the years.
My late brother Ian and my father between them, carried out a long (1994-2003) and expensive restoration, since when it has travelled barely 1000 miles (69k in total). However, these days it needs an owner with more space and resources than I have, to invest and look after it. It’s a bit too posh and valuable for me!
Since early 2015 the car was on sale and display at Earley Engineering in Herefordshire, one of the UK’s top Alvis specialists - www.earleyengineering.co.uk - The car was finally sold in the Bonham's December Classic Car Auction.
